India won the gold medal for the second time in a row at the Womens Junior Asia Cup Tournament, defeating China in the nerve-wracking final, via shootout in Muscat, Oman today. India goalkeeper Nidhi saved three strokes to help the defending champions win the shootout 3-2 after play in the regulation time ended in 1-1 draw.
Tan Jinzhuang scored the first goal for China but Kanika Siwach struck the equaliser in the third quarter for India as the match went into a penalty shootout. Korea won the bronze medal, defeating Japan 3-2 in shootout after both the teams scored one goal each in the regulation time.
